The missing layer

Every address sits inside a city government

Taxes, services, parks, permits, capital projects and fiscal health are set at the municipal level. Until now that layer has been buried in budgets and PDFs.

Property data

The home

Beds, baths, square footage, price history, tax assessment.

Neighborhood data

The immediate area

Walkability, schools nearby, commute times, local amenities.

CityCites

The municipality

Growth, climate exposure, transparency, community investment and demographics of the city that governs the address.

Five scores

Standardized city scores, one methodology

Every score is 0–100 where higher is better, reports a peer percentile, data completeness and confidence, and links to a plain-English definition. The Diversity Index is descriptive and is never ranked.

Growth Score

Momentum in population, jobs, income, housing, tax base and capital investment.

What it measures →

Climate Investment Score

How unusually exposed a city is to natural hazards, from earthquakes and wildfire to hurricanes and floods, and how well it is preparing for them.

What it measures →

Transparency Score

How complete and detailed a city's public financial disclosure is.

What it measures →

Community Investment Score

Parks, libraries, recreation, housing and community programs: how much, how steadily, and how it is trending.

What it measures →

Demographic Diversity Index research

Probability that two residents belong to different racial/ethnic groups. Descriptive research data, not a rating.

Built API-first

One call per city. The same data our dashboards use.

Front-end products and enterprise customers read from the same score service, so the number a resident sees and the number your product shows always match.

A city module on every listing

Illustrative mockup of a generic listing page. Pick a city to see the module update with its real scores. Partners choose which scores to show and how.

  • Answers the buyer question listings can't: what is this city like to live in and invest in?
  • Each score links to a plain-English explanation, which keeps partner support simple.
  • The Demographic Diversity Index is not displayed in consumer housing contexts by default. It ships with display_policy: research so each partner's compliance team decides whether and how to use it.

Research & policy

Bulk, versioned data with full component breakdowns for academic and policy analysis.

Coverage

CityCites scores 8,099 US cities: every city with 1,800 or more residents in all 50 states and DC, plus every California city. Scores come from the Census American Community Survey, Building Permits Survey and government finance surveys, FEMA's National Risk Index and flood maps, and federal single audits.

Where a source doesn't cover a city, that part of the score is left out and disclosed, never estimated.

Fair housing by design

Demographic data in housing contexts is sensitive. The Diversity Index is descriptive, never ranked or colored as better or worse, and is delivered with display_policy: research. Partners' compliance and legal teams decide whether and how it is displayed.
